The Arctic Highways exhibition has now opened in Santa Fe. At the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA)

The Arctic Highways exhibition has now reached its seventh and final stop in North America before returning to Europe and finally Granö in Västerbotten.

Jan Wejdmark, initiator of the exhibition and Patsy Philips, Director of the IAIA Museum opened the exhibition.

All the curators of the exhibition - Tomas Colbengtson, Gunvor Guttorm, Dan Jåma, Britta Marakatt-Labba - attended the opening at the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, Santa Fe, New Mexico, 16 and 17 August 2024.

Interest and curiosity about ”Arctic Highways” was high in Santa Fe, as it has been in the other places in the US and Canada where it has been shown.

In this book, twelve artists from the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, from Sápmi, Canada and Alaska, tell their own stories, based on their own experiences and using their own means of expression.

Participating artists: Matti Aikio, Tomas Colbengtson, Maureen Gruben, Gunvor Guttorm, Marja Helander, Dan Jåma, Sonya Kelliher-Combs, Laila Susanna Kuhmunen, Meryl McMaster, Britta Marakatt-Labba, Olof Marsja and Máret Ánne Sara.

The book also includes contributions by: Tomas Colbengtson, Harald Gaski, Gunvor Guttorm, Dan Jåma, Elin Anna Labba, Britta Marakatt-Labba, Hans Ragnar Mathisen and Wanda Nanibush.
