The ”Arctic Highways” exhibition is making its final stop in North America. The exhibition is on display in Santa Fe at the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA) until 2 March 2025. The exhibition opened in Santa Fe as part of the ”Santa Fe Indian Market” 16-18 Aug 2024, an annual major event held for more than 100 years. It features a market, art, dance, music, fashion, seminars and discussions. Thousands of Native American artists come to this classic event every year.
With that start in Santa Fe, interest in the exhibition's focus on indigenous peoples has been very high. In December, the online magazine ”Inuit Art Quaterly” published an interview with curators Tomas Colbengtson, Gunvor Guttorm, Dan Jåma and Britta Marakatt-Labba. The interview was conducted by Charissa von Harringa, Ph.D., an art historian at Concordia University in Montreal who focuses on indigenous peoples and art.
