Yvonne Rock in conversation about society, Arctic Highways and human encounters with financier Jan Wejdmark

A conversation about visions between the community builder and financier Jan Wejdmark and the cultural figure Yvonne Rock.

Jan Wejdmark grew up in the small town of Granö in Västerbotten and later founded the property company Newsec. With a holistic perspective on community development, he works in various contexts to create long-term sustainable environments. Through the association Mötesplats Granö, he pursues a vision of preserving and developing the rural community through collaboration between artists, cultural activities, businesses, and municipal stakeholders.

He is also involved in the touring art exhibition Arctic Highways, which brings together twelve artists from Sápmi, Canada, and Alaska. The exhibition is curated by Britta Marakatt-Labba, Tomas Colbengtson, Gunvor Guttorm, and Dan Jåma, and the aim is for it to eventually be established as a permanent exhibition in Granö.

– In the future, I see Granö developing into one of the most important meeting places for history, culture, and nature in Northern Europe, says Jan Wejdmark.

The conversation between Jan Wejdmark and Yvonne Rock, who has been project manager for Arctic Highways and other projects for five years and possesses an extensive network within Swedish cultural life, revolves around how societies can develop and the role culture plays in creating attractive and unique meeting places that draw people from all over the world.
