The travelling exhibition Arctic Highways has opened at its last destination before it gets its permanent home in Granö. In a collaboration between Saemien Sijte in Snåsa and Steinkjer Kulturhus, the art exhibition will be on display until 19 September 2025. Steinkjer is located a few kilometres north of Trondheim and Snåsa a few kilometres further north.
The exhibition opened at 12 noon in Snåsa and at 4 pm in Stenkjer with similar programmes.
The speakers were Arnt Einar Bardal, Chairman of Snåsa Municipality, Birgitta Fossum, Director of Saemien Sijte, Gjertrud Holan, Head of Culture at Stenkjer, and Gunnhild Tettli, Head of the Stenkjer Cultural Centre.
This was followed by a few words from the curators and artists Britta Marakatt-Labba, Gunvor Guttorm and Toman Colbengtsson.
Jan Wejdmark, initiator of the exhibition and chairman of the board of Mötesplats Granö, then spoke.
The exhibition was opened by Mr Ole-Henrik Bjørkmo Lifjell of the Norwegian Sami Parliament. A cultural element was provided by actress, playwright, storyteller and joik Cecilia Persson.
Afterwards, visitors mingled with the caterers and organisers.
