The world is in a transition from fossil fuels to green energy. In the Western world, this is seen as a positive thing, something that gives a sense of hope. New wind farms are being built all over Scandinavia, often in the windy mountain areas that much of society calls ”wilderness”, but which are in fact at the heart of Sami culture.
This good feeling is experienced as a dark cloud by my people, the Sami.
My aim is to show how these dark clouds on the horizon pose a future threat to reindeer herding families.
I want to make visible the price my people pay for green energy. My work - a video installation - bears the same basic philosophy as my people: ”Leave no trace”.
