My work often includes garments, jewellery, or objects that I have used during different periods of my life. This means that my sculptures often have a more or less clear autobiographical element.
I ”Hand, heart and belt” the belt comes from my childhood, a time when the kolt – the traditional Sami costume – was essentially the obvious way to dress. However, after people moved to a different place, this garment began to chafe the body in such a way that it eventually disappeared from the wardrobe.
I ”Hand, heart and belt” A rough, aluminium hand stretches out and grips the boy's small belt, from which an iron-forged reindeer heart hangs. Even though the kilt disappeared from the body, the memory remained in the heart – the place which also holds the adult's sorrow over the child's need to choose.
