Gunvor Guttorm (born 1958 in Karasjok, Norway). Gunvor Guttorm Professor in duodji (Sámi arts and crafts, traditional art, applied art) at Sámi allaskuvla/Sámi University of Applied Sciences, Guovdageaidnu/Kautokeino in Norway.
Her research is closely linked to cultural expressions in Sámi and other indigenous communities, especially duodji. The focus is on duodji in a contemporary and indigenous context. She has written extensively on how traditional knowledge in Sámi arts and crafts is transformed in relation to modern life.
In an indigenous context, she has participated as an invited speaker at international research congresses and participated in exhibitions in Sápmi and internationally. During the period 2016-2018 she was part of the reference group for the exhibition Let the River Flow, organised by the Office for Contemporary Art, Oslo. She has also co-edited, with Harald Gaski and Katya Garcia Antón, the publication Let the River Flow. An Indigenous Uprising and its Legacy in Art, Ecology and Politics (Office for Contemporary Art Norway / Valiz Amsterdam, 2020).
