Britta Marakatt-Labba (born 1951) was born and raised in a reindeer herding family. The family's winter pasture was in Swedish Sápmi and the summer pasture on the Norwegian side of Sápmi. She graduated from the School of Design and Crafts (HDK) at University of Gothenburg.
Marakatt-Labba work with narrative, or storytelling, embroidery. Her images are miniature worlds created with needle and thread. The images depict various events and scenes from everyday life, mythology, political reflections and tales about Sámi culture and history.
Her work has been exhibited at, among others The National Museum (National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo), Moderna Museet, CODE, Malmö Art Museum, Uppsala Art Museum, North Norwegian Art Museum, RiddoDuottarMuseat, Korundi, Anna Nordlander Museum and The Museum of Sketches.
