The exhibition is now moving on to Santa Fe, where it opens on 16 August 2024."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The exhibition period for the art exhibition Arctic Highways at The American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, where it had been on display since February 4th, 2024, concluded on May 26th, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>As you can read in previous posts, the exhibition was a success both in terms of audience numbers and media coverage. Furthermore, the exhibition inspired new exhibitions and activities to be started on the theme of indigenous peoples.<\/p>\n<p>This is how the American Swedish Institute (ASI) writes the day after the exhibition closed<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe touring Arctic Highways exhibition concludes its remarkable run at the American Swedish Institute (ASI) in Minneapolis, Minnesota this weekend. Marked by cultural enrichment and dynamic partnerships, ASI hosted Arctic Highways and showcased the works of Indigenous contemporary artists from S\u00e1pmi and North America from February 3 to May 26, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside this central exhibition, visitors experienced Mygration, a compelling installation by S\u00e1mi artist Tomas Colbengtson and Swedish artist Stina Folkebrant, presented in collaboration with All My Relations Arts, a local hub and gallery for contemporary Native art.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition's programming featured notable events, beginning with the screening of \u201cStitches for S\u00e1pmi\u201d on S\u00e1mi National Day on 6 February. This documentary highlighted the life and art of Arctic Highways curator and artist Britta Marakatt-Labba, whose work encapsulates the mythology, natural connections, and political struggles of the S\u00e1mi people.<\/p>\n<p>Further programming included the U.S. debut of Avant Joik, featuring Arctic Highways artist Matti Aiko, in association with the Walker Art Center, and a special concert performance by the S\u00e1mi National Theatre Beaivv\u00e1\u0161 at ASI.
