Laila Susanna\u2019s family was forced to resettle from the north to Jokkmokk in Sweden almost one hundred years ago. This historic event is reflected in her artistic handicraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-year program in Duodji at the S\u00e1mi Education Centre in Jokkmokk and a Master\u2019s degree from the S\u00e1mi University of Applied Sciences in Kautokeino, Norway, gave her the formal background to practice her art and craftsmanship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laila Susanna\u2019s creativity emanates from the traditional duodji, S\u00e1mi handicraft, but at the same time it also expresses itself through methods that are a symbiosis of both the \u00adtraditional and the modern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has exhibited her work at the S\u00e1mi Center for Contemporary Art in Karasjok, Norway, and at the S\u00e1mi Duodji Center in Jokkmokk, as well as the Silver Museum in Arjeplog, Sweden, and the TRAFO Art Gallery in Asker, Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"template":"","categories":[],"class_list":["post-8","artists","type-artists","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/arctichighways.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/artists\/8","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/arctichighways.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/artists"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/arctichighways.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/artists"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/arctichighways.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/arctichighways.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
